Love @ First Fight

During my studies in Maastricht I joined a fraternity, men only. Fellow students were not always overjoyed when we arrived to the scene. Party crashing and raiding other fraternities was what we liked to do most. And so it was one evening that we grouped like a wolf pack dressed in our grey single breasted dirty frayed and ripped suits.

The competition held an open bar that night. Easy. We didn't have to fight our way in. I might have been mistaken, but a sigh went through the bar the moment we walked in. It was af if the crowd shrank 2 inches upon entering. I didn't pay to much attention to the filty looks. Straight for the bar where we met with our competitor friends.

It's hard to explain to plebeians, but it normally starts with a cheerful conversation. From one moment to the next you'll find your self on the floor in a brawl. And just as easily, a few seconds later, it'll stop. Shake hands, a pat on the back and in a cheerful conversation again.

I had some severe encounters with Tom in the past. That night we decided that if you can't beat them you should join and we signed a truce. A tap on my shoulder. "He, I wanna talk to you", a girl said. "One moment please, I'm in a conversation", I responded and turned my attention back to Tom. A jerk at my shoulder. She again. "He, I wanna talk to you."

For the next 15 minutes this was our ritual. Every few second I felt a jerk. The same lame question over and over. I kept my cool and asked her every time to wait for a moment so I could finish my conversation with Tom. After 5 minutes she started to annoy me. After 10 minutes she started to irritate me. A some point I started to warn her that she'd better stop. After 15 minutes I ordered her to stop. I set an ultimate. "I'm warning you. If you don't stop, I will have to manhandle you." I gave her anothrer fair three warnings during which I pointed out the physical consequences. Of course she didn't stop.

I grabbed her shoulders and pushed her with all my might. She fell back, almost left the ground, crushed into the wall on the other side of the hallway and stumbled to the floor. Oops, although I warned her, this was maybe a bit too much. She lay still for a moment then slowly rose to her feet. Walked up to me, looked at me, laughed and said: "He, I wanna talk with you."

That moment, then and there. I was the next to fall.., head over heels. Don't ask me to explain but it was love at first fight.
